Just Another Pretty Face

I am all for women being in the Armed Forces. I think women can do just about anything a man can do and in some instances, women can do things better. However, there are some things men do better than women.

This might come as a surprise, but men and women are different. There are some things men, in general, are built to do. The same goes for women.

Women can fly fighter jets, steer aircraft carriers, design buildings and be excellent leaders. I know women can shoot guns, drive tanks and be in better shape than some men. However, I don’t think it is a good idea to put women on the front lines.

Women + combat = a bad scenario.

People living in the modern world might consider human rights crimes when dealing with a woman in the midst of war, but the people we are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan and now Libya don’t share the same views.

In fact, there are plenty of news stories that show some Americans and ally countries don’t know how to act with prisoners of war, animals in combat or dealing with civilians. If we are a sophisticated society, then why are there rogue soldiers?

How much more are other countries without the same morals and ideals going to react when they capture a woman. Then, as a country, we will respond and react by acting diligently to get the woman out of harm’s way because she is being raped and tortured in way a man might not be tortured.

That means we are going to spend extra money, risk more lives and spend time on a rescue mission for a solider just because she is a woman. It’s not fair.

It’s not fair to the other POWs who are trapped in awful situations. It’s not fair to those who endured being captive and were rescued in due time.

When I saw the headlines that Gaddafi’s glamorous blonde daughter who is a lawyer and represented Saddam Hussein at one point, was joining the front lines, I was shocked.

However, the headline was deceiving because the bombshell who has been called the Claudia Schiffer of North Africa, isn’t joining the fighting, of course. She is there to rally the troops. Reminds me of the WWII USO tours and how the pretty girls would come out and cheer on the troops.

So, I revert. All the progress woman have made, I take a stand against change. I have to say, Gaddafi’s daughter, Aisha, played it right. She stayed off the front lines.
