FUELS APPRENTICEAs a Fuels Apprentice, you will learn the basic fundamentals for the operation of equipment used in the storage and transfer of petroleum products used in the Air Force today. The primary duties of the fuels apprentice include receiving, storing and issuing petroleum products purchased for use in Air Force vehicles, aircraft and support equipment used on the flight line and throughout the base.Training covers all duties, including the actual refueling of aircraft on the flight line with various types of mobile refueling equipment. At your first permanent assignment, you will be given the opportunity to demonstrate the skills you have just learned. While still in training, you will drive refueling vehicles on the flight line and perform the actual refueling of all types of aircraft assigned to that base. Other areas of importance are the fuels control center where all requests for fuel are received and the operator maintenance of refueling vehicles and flight-line hydrant systems.
