Data Warehouse Architect
The Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for the architectural design, development and maintenance of complex, enterprise-wide data warehousing systems. Provides leadership and direction including long and short-range planning of data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and data models. Demonstrates expertise in a variety concepts, practices and procedures relevant to the field of Business Intelligence.
The role requires strategic thinking, technical leadership, strong problem solving skills, and the ability to communicate well at all levels of the organization.
• Develop/maintain data warehousing architecture roadmap and implementation strategy • Provide technical leadership within and across all data warehousing and business intelligence projects • Design data movement, replication, access and legacy system retirement strategies • Promote reuse of data, models, processes and data integration (ETL) technologies • Ensure consistency, timeliness, data quality, security and availability of enterprise data warehouse • Establish and enforce data integration, replication and access standards and best practices • Develop/manage best practices in the area of metadata management • Develop/manage change management procedures for data warehouse architecture and development • Develop/manage disaster recovery, backup and archival strategies for enterprise data warehouse • Ensure coordination amongst members of data warehousing staff and system users and developers • Facilitate problem management and communication among associated team members. • Negotiates with outside vendors as required.
Job Requirements: • Bachelor Degree and extensive course work in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, statistics, finance or related field required.
• 10+ years of DW experience, with 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Ability to effectively develop and integrate business and technology strategies.
• Ability to troubleshoot/resolve complex issues and manage complex functions.
• Deep experience in data warehousing technologies, including relational databases, OLAP, ETL, business intelligence and analytical tools, and architectural strategies
• Experience with IBM iSeries platform.
• Experience with DB2, MS SQL, Oracle.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem solving and planning skills.
