Responsibilities * Architect and define requirements for Sourcefire appliances (high speed networking, server and computer hardware). * Write detailed functional specifications for new hardware products. * Determine, recommend, and validate/qualify components for Sourcefire appliances. * Integrate and test product prototypes to ensure that hardware systems meet established requirements. * Work with engineering staff to define interface between hardware and software components. * Design and develop diagnostics used for hardware validation, debug and manufacturing test. * Develop drivers for various hardware components. * Update knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid changes in technology. Required Skills
Skills and competencies * Demonstrated strong understanding of Intel Architecture x86 server architecture and computer hardware peripherals * 3+ Years experience using Perl, bash or other scripting languages * Experience in the specification, integration and verification of BIOS/BMC * Experience with Linux OS or other Unix OS * Experience with C language * Basic knowledge of networking concepts and network test equipment * Experience with commercial software development life-cycle * Excellent troubleshooting capabilities * Strong organizational skills
