ASKO?s American Shear Knife Division, manufactures and delivers custom engineered knives and wear parts to the metals industry. American Shear Knife Division (ASKO, Inc.) is seeking a Sales Manager ? Mill Products, for US and international sales. Our office is located in West Homestead, Pennsylvania.
This position is responsible for planning, implementing and managing sales and technical service activities for the rolling mill market segment. The position is responsible for planning and performing both commercial and technical service aspects of the selling process. The Sales Manager develops and communicates the value proposition for the product lines and for individual customer transactions. The Manager provides commercial, product, and market expertise to customers, agents, and members of the company?s management team.
A Partial List of Specific responsibilities includes:
Travels with sales agents and visits customers up to 70% of the time
Works with salesmen and sales agents to define customer needs and provides timely and accurate product and application definition to Customer Service. Also provides market and competitive input to Customer Service.
Works directly with the salesmen and sales agents and customer to convert Customer Service generated quotations to orders.
Provides sales agents and customers with technical and commercial product knowledge. To effectively represent ASKO?s products to customers and the field sales organization serves as the technical expert for assigned products and markets.
Provides leadership, training, technical assistance, management, and sales support to salesmen and agents. Coordinates field sales efforts enhancing ability of sales personnel to work effectively and achieve goals.
Through implementation of an agent review process sets and monitors goals and objectives.
Forecasts, budgets, and analyzes actual sales results against budgeted sales volume and margins and measures and reports progress in achieving key account/target product management objectives.
Establishes and maintains contact with key customers and actively participates in personal selling efforts at key accounts.
Manages inventory programs at the customer level and provides necessary advice and information to ASKO departments and the customer to assure ongoing program integrity.
Requirements:
Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Bachelors Degree in Engineering Ten years industrial sales experience; extensive industry specific experience may be substituted for required education; direct industry operating experience may be substituted for sales experience. Experience managing independent commission sales agents Understanding of and familiarity with the flat and long products rolling mill industry and markets Understanding of American Shear Knife Division?s products and their application to customer requirements Proficiency with respect to negotiated selling Excellent interpersonal, team building and leadership skills Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and oral Computer proficiency in both Microsoft products and ERP software and system reports Sound business judgment, recognizing the balance between achieving sales volume targets and maintaining or increasing margins Ability to plan and manage the work of others Skill in managing the complex sale (multiple influencers and decision makers) Ability to travel extensively, domestically and internationally, occasionally on short notice
