Position Summary:

The Technical Trainer delivers highly technical, software development training to Vocollect’s partners, customers and employees. In addition, the Technical Trainer will perform the functional and system level design and development of Vocollect’s customized integrated voice solution. This position will spend varying time delivering training and developing/customizing Vocollect Voice solutions.

The position requires the candidate to interface cross-functionally with other departments, partners, and customers and therefore requires exceptional communication skills and high energy. The individual will develop a complete and comprehensive knowledge of Vocollect’s hardware and software products, as well as the processes and best practices of implementing our voice systems. The individual will work with the Curriculum Developers to create and administer classroom exercises, labs and presentation materials that maximize learning. It is also required that the candidate is knowledgeable of all aspects of the engineering process including requirements specification, design, development, test, documentation, and maintenance.

The individual will travel worldwide to partner & customer sites to deliver training on a regular basis. Travel will be 60% or more with at least half being international. The individual will work with Curriculum Developers, Custom Systems, Engineering and Product Management to ensure that training deliverables are ready for product launch and that the individuals software development skills remain sharp. The goal of the Technical Trainer is to support partner growth by ensuring that Vocollect partners are quickly and comprehensively trained to develop and modify VoiceApplications.

Position Responsibilities:

* Provide technical software development training on Vocollect's development software platforms to customers, partners and Vocollect employees
* Effective participation in all technical aspects of the customized Vocollect software engineering effort to develop highly effective software solutions in a timely and efficient manner
* Implementing solutions using a variety of structured and object-oriented tools, including Python, Java, SQL, and other graphical and report generation tools
* Communicating development issues to management for both design and scheduling purposes, participating effectively in the design process and software development life cycle in a team environment, and taking ownership of previously existing software
* Leverage knowledge of Python or other object oriented programming language(s) to create and maintain instructor led training materials for software development training courses
* Develop online lab exercises for use in conjunction with instructor led and self-paced learning
* Carry out periodic reviews of the training material to ensure accuracy and relevance and direct the revision process as current products are updated or revised
* Provide train-the-trainer training to Vocollect’s field services teams, including domestic and international employees as well as Vocollect’s international partners
* International travel to customer/partner sites is required

Position Qualifications:

Education:
BS in Computer Science or equivalent

Experience:
* 5 years experience teaching software programming with specific focus on Python. Teaching other object oriented programming languages will be considered
* 5 years of proven software development experience using Python or other object oriented programming language
* Proven experience using the Eclipse IDE
* Working knowledge of web application development using Java based technologies such as Hibernate or similar object-relational mapping (ORM), Spring Framework, Struts2, FreeMarker, and JavaScript a plus
* Proven experience maintaining and updating training materials
* Proven excellence in communication, writing and editing skills
* Ability to adapt to evolving products and technology; experience in a high technology company
* Candidate must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently as the situation warrants
* Experience with warehousing or supply chain operations
