IT Systems Administrator
Reaxis, Inc. is a specialty chemical manufacturing company, located in McDonald, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh, PA and has been in operation since 1935. Reaxis, Inc. manufactures an extensive range of products that are used in numerous industries including plastics, coatings, elastomers, adhesives, sealants, hydrogen pyroxide, oil/gas drilling additives and lubricants.
The company’s standard and specialty products are applicable in a wide range of chemistries including catalysts for esterification, polyurethane reactions as well as finishing chemistries.
Reaxis, Inc. is seeking an IT systems administrator to work with the IT Manager as part of a two person IT team for the organization. In this capacity the new incumbent would be involved in all IT related areas of the organization and would assist in the establishment of the company’s material resource planning system and the virtualization of the organization’s desk top infrastructure and servers. This a an excellent opportunity to perform substantive IT work for a company with a strong appreciation for IT and the role of IT in a chemical manufacturing business.
The key responsibilities and duties of the position are as follows:
- Assist in the establishment of the Material Resource Planning (MRP)system from both an IT and materials management content perspective
- Maintain and manage the material resources planning system and information, once established
- Assist in virtualizing the company’s desktop infrastructure and servers
- transition from PC’s to virtual machines
- deploy Windows 7 on all users machines
- transition from single to multiple application servers
- Expand company’s existing internal web applications and programs
- Extract and analyze data from various SQL server databases and develop applicable business reports
- Utilize Excel and SQL pivot tables to generate reports from the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Assist with maintenance of computer software and hardware
- Provide employee IT user support as necessary
- Provide employee IT user training on Windows office 2010 suite
- Perform occasional software programming for chemical plant automation needs
Requirements:
The key requirements of the position include the following:
- B.S. Degree in Information Science or Computer Science
- M.S. Degree in Information Science preferred
- One or more years experience with relational databases
- IT experience as a generalist is preferred
- Basic knowledge of software development concepts and environments
- Programming experience required
- Programming experience in C#, PHP or related language is preferred
- Patience with IT users who may not be computer savvy
- Approachable and sociable; able to work well within the Reaxis culture
- Self starter and strong initiative
- Ability and willingness to learn
